Lakeland Law Group opened its doors in the City of Cold Lake in September of 2014, allowing lawyer Jay Conlin to bring his unique expertise to the local community. Since its founding, Lakeland Law Group has helped hundreds of people with legal services in Cold Lake, Bonnyville, St. Paul, and across the Lakeland.
Jay’s experience has taught him to be systematic in his approach to law. Lakeland Law Group has well-tested processes to maximize efficiency while keeping legal costs down. This doesn’t mean that the team at Lakeland Law is impersonal or robotic: they realize that every client’s situation is unique, and requires a personalized approach to solving the problems that may arise.
We understand that clients want to live their lives and build their businesses; not spend time in convoluted legal situations. Our philosophy is to provide you with competent advice and reasonable alternatives to resolve your legal matters efficiently, thereby saving you time and money on legal costs.

Our Cold Lake Law Firm Team
At Lakeland Law Group, we are a full-service legal team here to help you navigate the legal system when you need us.
Angi was born and raised on the East Coast, but is an Alberta girl at heart. She relocated to Cold Lake from Halifax in August of 1998, and has proudly watched our community grow over the last 20 years.
Angi’s first love has always been law, expressing her passion at the age of 4 to anyone that would listen. She took her first job in Law as a Receptionist at Kowalski & Company in 2004, and has been fortunate to have gained experience with several law firms in the area before joining Jay and the team at Lakeland Law Group in 2012 as Officer Manager and Family/Criminal Paralegal.
Known for her pragmatic approach and determination, Angi is the paralegal you will speak to if you are a Family Law client. She takes pride in assisting clients through the trials and tribulations that separation and divorce can bring, with a continued focus on the best interest of the new family unit, emphasizing on the children. If you are a Family Law client with Lakeland Law Group, you will undoubtedly hear her catch phrase “Walk the path” more than once.
Angi is also the Criminal paralegal in the office, and is usually the first voice you hear in the beginning stages of the legal process. With a strong belief in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Angi remains commited to ensuring that each client understands his or her rights under the law, and has received the best defence from our firm, no matter the outcome.
Angi believes that clients are not just clients, but members of our community. Her compassion and desire to help others often finds her extending a shoulder to lean on, going above and beyond for clients to find resources on coping and self-care, such as counselling, courses, and treatment options.
Angi is married to Scott, a member of CFB Cold Lake. Together, they have 3 daughters, and 5 rescue animals. Angi is happiest when her house is filled with family and friends, loves singing with her coworkers, travelling to warm destinations, and of course, the Edmonton Oilers. When she isn’t home or in the office, you can find her at the Hockey rink, cheering loudly for “her littles”.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sarah grew up in Lower Sackville and has always surrounded herself with family and close friends. In July 2013, Sarah made the difficult choice to move to Cold Lake with her now-fiance, Zach. Sarah attended Portage College in 2014, focusing on the Accounting Technician Program. She successfully graduated from the program in June of 2016, with the Student of the Year award.
Sarah began her career as Lakeland Law Group’s Bookkeeper and Receptionist in October of 2017. She is the first smile you will see as you walk in the front door, and ensures that you are well cared for during your relationship with Lakeland Law Group.
Sarah enjoys a broad variety of activities, from refreshing her ever-changing nail style to playing softball with the local league in the summer months. As she remains close to her East Coast family, she returns home to visit regularly. Sarah doesn’t mind the long flight home, or a long flight anywhere for that matter, as she enjoys being somewhere with a warm, sandy beach whenever she has the opportunity. She hopes, one day, she and Zach will run a small hobby farm with a variety of animals she can cuddle and care for.
Originally from small-town Elk Point, Alberta, Wendy relocated to Cold Lake in her early teens. Following graduation from Cold Lake High School, and the birth of her daughter, Wendy returned to Elk Point to be closer to her family while her daughter was young.
In April of 2014, Wendy began her Legal career with Lakeland Law Group, under the guidance of lawyer Jason Conlin and Officer Manager/Paralegal Angi, in the fields of Family and Criminal Law. However, as the old saying goes, “Once you drink Cold Lake water, you always come back.” Lakeland Law Group opened its new, permanent office in October of 2014, returning Wendy to her “ol’ stomping grounds.” This new location meant taking on other areas of law, as Wendy became the go-to Legal Assitant for all Real Estate, Wills and Estates, and Corporate Law matters.
Wendy is usually the first person in the office every morning, due to her dedication to our clients and the practice of Law. She has a genuinely understanding approach when it comes to the difficult decisions our clients face as they navigate Estate Law, both in probating and administration of the estate of a loved one, and during preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Personal Directives. Corporate clients can expect Wendy’s knowledgable mannerism to easily facilitate the process from the commencement of new business endeavours to the transfer of shares and contract review. Her creative, outside-of-the-box approach and friendly disposition has welcomed numerous homeowners to the Cold Lake area, while departing residents can begin their next adventure knowing that they have been well-advised, as she strives to exceed the professionalism and courtesy you should expect of your legal team.
In June of 2018, Wendy began a new adventure of her own, as she married her fiance, Les. Wendy, Les and their 2 children enjoy a simple life of playing cards, hockey, anime and art, history, science, and their 4 rescue animals. A quirky and free-spirited family, you might be surprised to learn that 2 of their rescue animals are not furry and 4-legged, but are in fact snakes. Wendy also enjoys all things related to music, from playing guitar and attending live performances. Her dream vacation is to go storm-chasing in the U.S.’s infamous Tornado Alley.
